VBS "Illumination Station" | Evenings of June 22-25, 2026

Be a part of VBS 2026, “Illumination Station - Shining a Light on Who Jesus Really Is”! This summer, YOU get to be a part of kids learning that Jesus is who Scripture says He is — the perfect, proven, and powerful Son of God.

DATES TO NOTE: 

• Sunday, June 14: Training
  • 10:15 - 11 AM: Training for Youth Volunteers Only
  • 6 - 8:30 PM: Training for ALL Volunteers 
• Monday, June 22 - Thursday, June 25: VBS (evenings - time commitment determined by role)
• Saturday, June 27, 6:30 - 8:30 PM: VBS Family Fun Night

VOLUNTEER ROLE DESCRIPTIONS:

If you do not currently serve in Berean Kids, you will need to complete a Family Ministries Application and have an up-to-date background check. A BK staff member will connect with you to get the process started.

Please note: For youth volunteers, grade requirements apply to the grade completed during the 2025-2026 school year.

RESERVED ROLE
Choose this option if your role has already been confirmed by a Berean Kids staff member. 

PREP/DECOR TEAMS
Will you be gone during VBS week, or do you prefer to be behind the scenes? Click HERE to join the Prep or Decor Teams!

SMALL GROUP LEADER
Grade 9+ and Adults
(Adults must be a Berean member, and youth must be a current BK volunteer.)
Small Group Leaders will be paired with a group of 6-8 children and will remain with them throughout the week. Responsibilities include building relationships with the kids, participating alongside them in the different rotations, and facilitating small-group time. Each small group will have 1 leader and may also have 1 helper.
Time Commitment: The entire night, with a 5:30 pm arrival time.

SMALL GROUP HELPER
Students Grade 6-12
Small Group Helpers will be paired with a leader to help facilitate a group of 6-8 children and will remain with them throughout the week. Responsibilities include building relationships with the kids, participating alongside them in the different rotations, and assisting the Small Group Leader. 
Time Commitment: The entire night, with a 5:30 pm arrival time.

BK BUDDY
Grade 9+ and Adults
BK Buddies will be paired with a child who needs a one-on-one companion to help them participate in all activities and aspects of the evening. Additional training for this role will be provided. 
Time Commitment: The entire night, with a 5:30 pm arrival time.

WELCOME TEAM
Adults
Responsibilities include greeting kids and families, holding doors, and directing individuals (you will be outside).
Time Commitment: From 5:30 - 6:15 pm. Register for our Support Team as well for a full-night commitment.

CHECK-IN TEAM
Adults and a Berean Member
Responsibilities include helping families get checked in when they arrive each night. Note: If you have children of your own participating in VBS, you will need to arrange for someone else to drop them off each night.
Time Commitment: From 5:15 - 6:15 pm. Register for our Support Team as well for a full-night commitment.

SUPPORT TEAM
Adults
Responsibilities include helping with bathroom breaks throughout the night and restocking classrooms with supplies for the next day.
Time Commitment: From 6:15 - 8:30 pm. Register for the Welcome Team or the Check-In Team as well for a full-night commitment.

GYM TEAM
Adults
Responsibilities include setting up for the evening, leading gym time by using the provided lessons, setting up the games between group rotations, and cleaning up after groups leave. Note: There are two gym positions: Kindergarten-3rd grade (inside) or 4th-5th grade (outside). 
Time Commitment: The entire night, with a 6:30 pm arrival time.

ACTIVITIES TEAM
Grade 9+ and Adults
Responsibilities include setting up for the evening, explaining activities, supporting small groups as they participate, and cleaning up after groups leave.
Time Commitment: The entire night, with a 6:30 pm arrival time.

CHILDCARE
Leaders: Grade 9+ and Adults
Helpers: Grade 6-8 (Middle School Students)
We are looking for individuals to provide childcare for kids ages 3-5 of VBS volunteers. Responsibilities include playing with the kids, leading simple lessons, and doing crafts.
Time Commitment: The entire night, with a 5 pm arrival time.

PUT ME IN COACH
Adults and a Berean Member
If you can't serve all week, but are available to be a sub where needed, sign up for this role.
Time Commitment: Role Dependent
